Corfu - Our Favourite Spots

When we’re not banging away in the kitchen, running about our restaurant serving you lovely folk of Leamington Spa our favourite Greek plates. We love to get back to Greece, have a mooch about & see what’s cooking, here are some of our favourite bolt holes on the beautiful island of Corfu…

Corfu

I have to start with this one as it’s where I spent my youth. Corfu is the second-largest island in the Ionian Sea and the seventh-largest in Greece. It is one of the northernmost parts of Greece as its northern coasts are part of the Adriatic Sea, while at a short distance from the island lie the Albanian coasts.

Apart from its unique architecture, Corfu is a cultural paradise for every history lover with a variety of historic sites and museums. The most famous among them is the Imperial Palace of Achillion, the summer retreat of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, just a short drive away from Corfu Town.

If you're a sunseeker the best time to visit Corfu is between June and August. The hottest month of the year is July with an average daily maximum of 33 C. The coolest month of the year is January with an average daily maximum of 14 C.

Our best bits of this Island

Pane e Souvlaki - Corfu Town

Pane e Souvlaki opened in February 2012. with its unique flavours, it has managed to become a favourite choice for those who have high expectations from their Souvlaki! The famous chef Dimitri Skarkoutso created the menu. They offer a selection of juicy grilled meats, salads and appetisers to satisfy all, vegetarian and vegan options too. sit outside in the square with a with a chilled Mamos and a selection of anything grilled. It’s a great way to waste a lazy afternoon. The best souvlaki I have had in Greece

Fuego Beach Bar Acharavi

Fuego is a combination of a beach bar, restaurant, and cafe is located right on the beachfront of Acharavi in North Corfu. The sea is so close that you can dip your feet in. The restaurant of Fuego gets pretty popular with visitors and locals from all over Corfu. The restaurant offers a mixed menu.

Fuego is a pretty cool spot for lazy afternoons, as the evening draws in the lights dim down nicely, the ambiance is spot on with a live DJ playing a chilled lounge vibe into the early hours.

Lovely

Eucalyptus Taverna San Stefano

The seaside taverna Eucalyptus is situated in the fabulous area of San Stefano on the northeastern part of Corfu. This restaurant maintains some traditional elements, combined with modern features.

From the menu try the courgette flowers and the grilled octopus. Wine selections is great too.

San Stefano is located 35 km from Corfu town and boasts a picturesque harbour with amazing surroundings full of olive groves with breathtaking views to the sea and the Albanian coastline.
The seawater is crystal clear.

Sway Bar - Corfu Town

The Sway Bar and Kitchen is a great spot to watch the world go by days or night. located slap bang in the centre of Corfu town, this bar has a very special character and style. It features some rich cuisine with great meat and seafood dishes, juicy burgers, salads, delicious desserts and various breakfast and now does brunch options such as avocado toast with poached eggs. In its atmospheric space, characterised by its rustic decoration and industrial design, you will discover some amazing cocktails and the playlist is bang on point.

Toula’s Seaside - Agni

If you want a proper treat and have some extra cash to get rid of Toula’s Seaside Restaurant is up there with the best restaurants in Greece. it has been awarded by the most prestigious culinary awards promoting Greek haute cuisine (or fine dining), among others Greek Cuisine Awards by Athinorama, FNL Best Restaurant Awards (from 2016-2022) and Noble Gourmet Restaurant Awards.

If your feeling proper flash, arrive by boat… Make sure you book as its always busy.

Tavernaki Kassiopi

Looking around the harbour in Kassiopi it’s difficult not to miss Tavernaki, it’s the busiest restaurant in Kassiopi. That doesn’t always translate into good food, punctual service and a friendly team, but it does at Tavernaki. Im not sure how they deliver this great offer at the price in this great location. The food, fish especially is fresh and portion sizes perfect. The service is first class & have dishes served in the blink of an eye. It’s seems difficult to see why you wouldn’t want to go here, mooring is a doddle, 3 steps and you’re sitting down!

Only just over a 3 hour flight from Birmingham airport with flights leaving 7 days a week what’s stopping you, if you do get chance to hop on an flight this summer, let us know how you get on?
